Working with us
Can a remote team abroad manage your UK social media? An honest answer
We're a remote team based in Nigeria, managing social media for UK businesses. You'd be right to ask whether that works. Short answer: yes, with conditions, and the conditions matter more than the location.
The short answer
Yes. A remote team in another country can run the day-to-day of a UK small business's social media competently, if the work is genuinely done, the writing is genuinely British English, the hours overlap with yours, and the team is upfront about where it operates. Take any of those away and it stops working.
We're saying this on our own website because it would be strange to leave you to work it out later. We're based in Benin City, Nigeria. We serve UK businesses, we work UK hours, and we're clear about it on every page. You can judge the work with your eyes open.
Why we're based where we are
Our founder, Mubarid Aruna, is a digital media professional and web developer who has spent years running pages and websites for small businesses. Building a team in Nigeria made sense: the skills are here, the overheads are lower, and that's part of why we can charge £200 a month for work that a London agency would quote several times that for.
It isn't charity and it isn't outsourcing for its own sake. It's a small, deliberately sized team doing a defined job at a price a local business can actually sustain. We'd rather be honest about that than pretend to an office we don't have.
The time zone question
Nigeria is one hour ahead of the UK for most of the year, and on the same clock as British Summer Time during summer. That's about as easy as a time zone difference gets.
- Your afternoon is our afternoon. A message at 3pm your time reaches us at 4pm ours, in the same working day.
- We reply within one UK working day. Not instantly (that's not realistic for a small team), but reliably within the day.
- Nothing gets posted at 3am UK time. Posts are scheduled to go out when your customers are awake and scrolling.
- Holidays differ. Nigerian public holidays aren't UK ones. We plan around the UK calendar (bank holidays, half terms, Christmas), because that's when your customers behave differently.
The one honest caveat: if you want someone to answer a message within twenty minutes during a Saturday rush, a remote team won't be as quick as a person standing in the shop. If that level of immediacy is central to your business, say so and we'll tell you whether we can do it.
Language and local knowledge
This is the part that actually decides whether remote works, and it's the part most people worry about. Being fair about it:
- British English is a specific thing. Colour, not color. Tuesday 3 November, not November 3. £200, not 200 pounds. Anyone serving UK customers needs to get this right every time, not sometimes.
- Local detail takes input from you. We can write about your area, but you know which roads are a nightmare, which school holidays empty the high street, and which phrases your customers actually use.
- Cultural references age. We deliberately avoid slang and trend-chasing. It's the quickest way for any outsourced team to sound like it's guessing.
- You'll never see "reach out" or "grab" in a caption from us. That's a promise, and it's a low bar.
If a service writes in flawless British English and knows your patch, the location of the writer's desk stops mattering. If it doesn't, no amount of UK postcode helps.
Ask any provider for one sample post about your business. Count the Americanisms. If there are two, ask again. If there are five, save your money.
Access, data and trust
A remote team touching your accounts deserves scrutiny. So:
- No passwords. We're added through Meta Business Suite, TikTok Business, and as a manager on your Google Business Profile. You can remove access in under a minute, and we'll never ask for your personal login.
- Your accounts, your ownership. Everything stays in your name. If you leave, the content, photos and followers stay with you.
- Your customer data stays with you. We don't need your customer list. Messages coming through your pages are answered and logged, not exported.
- Your data protection duties are still yours. If customers message you, you're the data controller. Our privacy page explains what we hold and how to remove it, and it's written in plain English rather than legal fog.
- Thirty days' notice, either way. No annual lock-in to keep you from leaving.
Who this suits, and who it doesn't
We're a good fit for:
- Local businesses with a solid product and a quiet page: trades, salons, cafés, clinics, small shops, tutors.
- Owners who can send photos by WhatsApp and answer a question or two a month.
- People who want steady, honest posting rather than a growth campaign.
- Businesses who'd rather pay £200 a month than keep meaning to do it.
We're a poor fit for:
- Anyone who needs a UK landline, a physical representative, or a face at a networking breakfast.
- Businesses wanting guaranteed leads or viral campaigns.
- Highly regulated industries needing legal sign-off on every post.
- Anyone uncomfortable working with a team outside the UK. That's a legitimate preference, and we'd rather you choose elsewhere than resent it later.
Questions to ask any remote team
Whoever you hire, in the UK or not, these six questions separate the real ones from the resellers.
- Where are you actually based, and who writes the posts?
- What hours do you work in UK time, and how fast do you reply?
- Can you show me a page you've run for at least six months?
- Who owns the accounts and how do I remove your access?
- What won't you do? (If the answer is "nothing", be careful.)
- Will you tell me when a post isn't working?
We answer all six on this site, in the open, because the alternative is customers finding out later and feeling misled. More about who we are.
In short
Where a team sits matters less than whether the work is done, the writing is right, the hours overlap and the relationship is honest. We're in Nigeria, we work UK hours, we write British English, and we cost £200 a month. If that's a fit, start with a free page check. If it isn't, we'd genuinely rather you knew now.
Judge the work, not the postcode
Ask for a free page check. We'll send you a short, honest note about your pages, and you can decide whether a remote team is for you.
Quick questions
Where is Steady Social based?
In Benin City, Nigeria. Steady Social is a trading name of Kampus_Digital Hub Solutions, a business registered in Nigeria. We serve UK businesses and work UK hours, and we say so clearly rather than implying a UK office.
Will my posts be written in proper British English?
Yes, and we check for it deliberately: British spelling, the date format Tuesday 3 November, pounds rather than dollars, and none of the phrases that instantly read as American. If you spot one, tell us and we will fix it and learn from it.
How do you handle time zone differences?
Nigeria is one hour ahead of the UK in winter and on the same clock in summer. We work UK hours, reply within one UK working day, schedule posts for UK peak times, and plan around UK bank holidays rather than Nigerian ones.
Is my data safe with an overseas team?
We never ask for passwords, only partner access through the platforms themselves, which you can revoke at any time. Your accounts and content stay in your name. Our privacy page explains what we hold, how long we keep it, and how to ask us to delete it.
